Kenzy Family: An Algerian Project to transmit Héritage to children in the Digital Age.

Kenzy Family:
------------
Kenzy Family: An Algerian Project to Transmit Heritage to Children in the Digital Age Kenzy Family is an Algerian project dedicated to the creation and digitalization of cultural and educational content for children, led by Professor Nadia BOULAKDEM of the University of Tlemcen. She is the originator of the idea and the project’s founder. The project is registered with the National Office of Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA), as part of the protection of her creative work and intellectual property. The project emerged from a reflection on the growing role of screens, digital platforms, games, audiovisual content, and artificial intelligence in shaping the knowledge, perceptions, and identities of younger generations. It is based on a fundamental conviction: Algerian children must have access to high-quality digital content that enables them to discover their own country, its history, languages, traditions, heritage, and the values that constitute their identity. At the heart of the project is Kenzy Family, an Algerian family that embarks on a journey across the country's various regions to introduce children to Algeria's many treasures. Through this family adventure, children discover the history, geography, landscapes, architecture, archaeological sites, historical figures, traditional clothing, cuisine, handicrafts, folk tales, customs, languages, and cultural specificities of Algeria's different regions.
The ambition is to promote Algeria's cultural and linguistic diversity as an integral component of national identity, while presenting this diversity through the narrative and technological conventions of today's generation. However, Kenzy Family is not limited to a digital book. The project is conceived as the starting point for an ecosystem of Algerian digital content for children, including interactive digital books, stories and animated series, educational games, applications, smart maps, virtual and augmented reality experiences, interactive exhibitions, and other digital media.
From the Kenzy Family Project to a National Vision One of the project's major dimensions lies in the fact that, alongside the Kenzy Family project, Professor Nadia BOULAKDEM has developed a comprehensive institutional vision for the development of Algerian digital content for children. This vision has been articulated in a White Paper entitled “Towards the Establishment of a National Institution for Algerian Digital Content for Children – National Vision 2026–2040.” The document does not merely propose the establishment of an institution; it presents a comprehensive framework addressing its operations, governance, missions, specialized departments, programmes, funding mechanisms, partnerships, evaluation indicators, quality standards, and roadmap leading up to 2040.
The White Paper thus proposes the establishment of a genuine national system dedicated to digital content for Algerian children, capable of bringing together expertise in education, culture, higher education and scientific research, heritage, media, digital technologies, creative industries, and artificial intelligence. The proposed institution would have, among its principal missions, the coordination of national initiatives, support for content creators and start-ups, the development of high-quality digital content production, the promotion of research and training, the digitization of Algerian heritage, the establishment of quality standards, and the development of national and international partnerships.
The White Paper also envisages several complementary national programmes focusing, in particular, on virtual reality, the digital encyclopaedia of the Algerian child, children's creativity, folk tales and narratives, historical figures, languages, monitoring children's digital usage, and the incubation of creative industries dedicated to children. Professor Nadia BOULAKDEM now declares herself ready to present and discuss this vision with the relevant authorities, institutions, and specialized organizations, so that the proposal may be examined, further developed, and, where appropriate, become the subject of more in-depth institutional consideration.
A Project with Educational, Cultural, and Technological Dimensions Within Kenzy Family, children are not conceived as mere recipients of knowledge. They become active participants in their own discovery through stories, games, riddles, interactive activities, and educational experiences. The objective is to combine enjoyment, learning, creativity, identity, and digital culture, while fostering children's curiosity, critical thinking, sense of belonging, and ability to use new technologies constructively. The project also places considerable emphasis on Algerian children living abroad and on the Algerian diaspora, with plans to develop content in several languages in order to maintain and strengthen their cultural ties with Algeria. Artificial intelligence and new technologies are envisaged as tools serving human creativity, education, and cultural transmission, rather than as ends in themselves. An Ambition Extending to 2040 The vision championed by Professor Nadia BOULAKDEM is framed within the 2026–2040 perspective, with the ambition of gradually moving from pilot projects towards the establishment of a fully fledged national sector dedicated to digital content for children. Within this perspective, Kenzy Family constitutes the first pilot project and the first tangible realization of this national vision. It could gradually evolve into a genuine Algerian cultural brand spanning publishing, animation, educational games, applications, cultural tourism, and immersive experiences. The ultimate objective is to contribute, by 2040, to raising an Algerian child who is proud of their identity, aware of their heritage, open to the world, and capable of mastering the technologies of their time. The project therefore embodies an ambition that is simultaneously educational, cultural, identity-related, technological, and economic: to preserve and transmit heritage, strengthen identity, stimulate creativity, develop cultural and creative industries, and contribute to enhancing Algeria's cultural influence. Kenzy Family is therefore much more than a digital book project: it is the first building block of a national vision aimed at establishing an Algerian ecosystem for digital content dedicated to children. The philosophy of the project can be summed up in one phrase: “Building content to build the human being.”
